The worshippers of the dragonfather

So I thought id post another model from the range that I did a while ago.  Here is my Stone Scribe Chronicler.....with bad photos

BackgroundThe Scharde kriels worship the dragon father using blood sacrifce as learned from Satyxis and Tharn occult practices.  They see his blight as a blessing and central to this are the perverted shaman of the kriels.

The chroniclers fullfil the same role as their mainland kin.  They recite the stories and deeds of their most bloodthirsty ancestors who fought in the name of Toruk and Cryx.  Exhorting the trollkin around them to ever more bloodthirtsy acts until the battlefield is a river of blood.

In the game
Its a stone scribe chronicler

Conversion
I removed the head of the chronicler and added a deep hood of green stuff.  I wanted the same sort of effect that you see on a ringwraith.

"So do you think Sauron will mind that we're moonlighting here?"

You will see this being carried across the army for any trollkin that would fit into the more religious/shaman sort of role.

The axe is just a bane thrall axe stuck on to the model where the normal axe should be.

Right im off to stick more pipes on my earthborn.

Cheers for reading.

The test model

So in the first proper installment we have the test model.  I did do it close to a year ago now but a lot of people wont have seen it so here goes...

Background
With the entire army I was thinking that with this particular kriel they would have been experiments of the nightmare empire.  This will be seen throughout the conversions and as I go I will explain why I have done certain things to the models

Using the necrotite as a form of sustenance for these champions of the Scharde Kriels it was found to not only increase their strength and aggression but also augment their natural resilience.  Small Necrotite boilers were added to their armament to permanently fill their bodies necrotite during the battle at hand.  One of the problems with this processs is what the necrotite does to the trollbloods lungs.  Processing oxygen is no longer possible and large masks filled with poisonous fumes are permanantly attached to their heads.

In the game
I will be using these models as trollkin champions.  I have 5 fully converted so far and 6 waiting for some heads.  The thought being I can have 2 max units or 1 max and 2 minimum units so I have all the bases covered.

Conversion
Quite a simle one really.  I removed the head from a cryx bloodgorger model then I first added a Maxmini biohazard head.

The set come with 2 of each of the 5 heads which are the perfect size and look for what i needed.  There was a little bit of trimming needed off the bottom of the head around the neck area as they are designed to fit on 28mm heroic scale minis.

The next thing I did was add on another Maxmini product .  The biohazard backpack.

These come in pack of 6 and all I did was stick it on the back at teh right angle so it looked natural.  Well as natural as you can get for a blighted troll anyway.

One of the great things about Maxmini is that you can ask for multiples of the same part and what I have done is just choose the lefthand backpack for now to get some conformity within the army.

Painting
What I will do is write a full painting guide for the main parts at a different time.  But for now.

Thanks for reading.

yeah i know i know

Well i have been way too lax in posting things about my cryx trollbloods.  ive converted a fair few models and even had a few games so the plan is.

  • Create a post for each unit i have converted so far with what i have done and how i have done it.
  • Post some initial thought on the cryx trollbloods in play and army composition thoughts
  • Post some pics of course!

Anyway im off to work now, proper updates soon!
